Professional Profile

Even though the term has not been used professionally for about 10 years or so, I truly label myself a "WebMaster".

With over 18+ years being involved with every aspect of the software development life cycle I feel my skillsets encompass everything needed to be labeled as such.

It is truly a GREAT time to be involved with software development right now, especially with the web. The technologies are getting lighter, faster, and so much more powerful than when I started this adventure it's almost like comparing apples to oranges. And if you aren't willing to learn new things, adapt to new concepts and skills, then you are in the wrong business.

What i can do

My Services.

Content/Creative Writing

Often the hardest part of building any website. With a B.A. in English Literature from NMSU I can help with any content creation and creative writing needs.

Graphics

I spent my first few years of web design as a graphic artist. Allthough I may not be the most artistic. I can help create most graphics needed for any project.

Server Administration

Well versed in IIS and other web servers as well as physical or virtual server administration and maintenance.

Code

Delved into front-end and then, of course, back-end coding shortly after my first few years in the industry. My stengths lie in the .NET world but I gotta tell ya, I am LOVING the new MEAN Stack technologies and everything that is happening in that space so my skillsets are increasing and a good rate.

Responsive design

If you are not planning for mobile while developing any software solution you will be redesigning it in a matter of a few short years once in production. Responsive design is the best way to build a website that morphs to the view-area (device) that is viewing it.

Support

I am more than willing to contract monthly support for all my customers and thier environments and/or solutions. Great support is created on a solid business relationship and honest, quick communication.

Database

MS SQL has been my forte' since I got started with .NET. I also have experience with MySQL, Oracle and Sybase databases. Just recently I have jumped into the NoSQL Databases such as Mongo DB and DynamoDB. Very interesting stuff.

Cloud

Services such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and RackSpace Cloud have turned web and application hosting on it's head. You pay for only what you use, you can build and tear-down in seconds and multiple operating systems and wodnerful snap-in tools to choose from that are so much more fiscally responsible.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO is often the most difficult to understand and to perform once a website has been deployed and is in use. Making sure Google, Bing! and Yahoo bring your site up on the first page of any search related to your website is incedibly difficult and a never-ending task. It's like your garden for business. You must first plant the seeds but then make sure the garden is watered, weeded, de-bugged and cared for. It's not a set-it and forget-it scenario.

Beer

Yup! My wife and I brew our own craft beer. It was originally HER idea if you can believe that. We have brewed multiple styles, my favorite being our stout (MidKnight Train), and she has dreams of one-day opening up a brewery of her own.

I'm currently available for freelance work.

Although I do have a full time job at a company called LATA. I do take the occasional side gig. I'm hoping to build up a clientel of fantastic people and business so that I can one-day leave the cubical farm behind and work from my own office. So hit me up if you have any software needs and ideas.
